Tiffany Haddish Was ‘Very Disappointed’ by Common’s Comments About Their Breakup

In an interview with Jason Lee from Hollywood Unlocked, Haddish gave her side of the story and disputed some of her ex’s comments. In the initial interview, also with Jason Lee, Common described Haddish as “one of the best-hearted and most authentic and caring people that I’ve met in life.” He said that once the two of them “got back on the move” to pursue their careers, their schedules didn’t allow them to put the necessary attention and effort into their relationship.

"It really didn’t allow for us to spend as much time and put as much energy into our relationship. I don’t think the love really dispersed… We weren’t feeding the relationship," he said. Haddish did not publicly announce she was single, and instead their split was confirmed via a report last month.

“I’m fine with it,” said Haddish in her first interview discussing the split. “I miss him. I miss him from time to time, but that's with any relationship you might have. You miss them, but I'm fine with it. It's cool." Asked directly what she thought about his reasoning for the breakup, she sighed and said she was thinking “the same thing everybody else was in them comments.”

"He might be the type of person that never really settles with somebody, maybe he's like, you know, like a bee going from flower to flower to flower. I don't know," she continued. "I wish him nothing but joy and happiness, you know. He will always be cool." Haddish said that when she first heard his public comments she was “disappointed” in him.

Tiffany Haddish has reacted to Common’s remarks about their break-up and she’s far from impressed. The pair’s split, which happened in November, was revealed earlier this month after more than a year of dating.  Common, 49, opened up about their separation and said they both decided to call it quits after struggling to spend time together due to their busy work schedules. However, Tiffany, 42, has cast doubt on that version of events and said she’s ultimately ‘disappointed’ with her ex.

Speaking to Jason Lee on Fox Soul’s Hollywood Unlocked Uncensored, Tiffany explained: ‘He might be the type of person that never really settles with somebody, maybe he’s like, you know, like a bee going from flower to flower to flower. ‘I don’t know. I wish him nothing but joy and happiness, you know. He will always be cool.

Common has dated several women in the spotlight, including Serena Williams, Erykah Badu and Taraji P Henson. When presenter Jason suggested Tiffany was giving the ‘PC’ reaction to Common’s comments on their split, she then confessed: ‘I was disappointed. I was very disappointed. I was like, “Oh, OK. ‘Cause that’s not what you told me, but OK”.’ The Girls Trip actress added: ‘It’s gonna be a new opportunity. I miss him. I miss him from time to time, but that’s with, I think, any intimate relationship that you might have, you miss them. But I’m fine with it. It’s cool..

When asked if she would date another famous man, she joked: ‘I would f**k one.’ Common also spoke to Jason Lee earlier in December and described Tiffany as ‘one of the best people I’ve met in life’. He then explained: ‘I don’t think the love really dispersed. I just think it was like we weren’t feeding the relationship. … Neither one of us is gonna stop. ‘We both care about our crafts and what we do. We care about love too and partnership, but I think the energy that has been put into our careers and continuing to want to do the things that we do for ourselves and for the people, it was hard for me to balance all of that and keep the relationship fed.’

The Suicide Squad actor claimed they mutually ‘came to the understanding that this is what’s gonna be best for us, to still continue to love each other and be there for each other but to not be in a romantic relationship, because we won’t be able to give to that’. ‘I don’t want to be one foot in, one foot out,’ he added. Common and Tiffany’s romance blossomed during the pandemic after they decided to lockdown together. The Night School actress then confirmed they were dating in August 2020 and revealed they met on the set of 2019 film The Kitchen.
